2 Essential Oils To Help Treat Muscle Soreness During Physical Therapy

Posted on

If you are suffering from motor issues, then physical therapy can help to improve any joint stiffness and lack of movement. Physical therapy is usually intense and it requires months of consistent practice before you notice large improvements. While the process often yields great results, it can also result in muscle soreness. The more severe your arthritis or motor issues are then the more soreness that you may experience. The soreness can be difficult to endure, luckily, there are a few essential oils that you can use to ease muscle soreness during physical therapy.

Pine Needle Oil

Pine needle oil is frequently used to treat muscle pain and soreness as well as stiffness. The oil is also frequently included in cough and flu remedies as a form of treatment. Pine needle oil can be used to effectively treat muscle soreness by rubbing a few drops of the essential oil into your skin. The essential oil should be used immediately following a hot bath or shower while your skin is still damp. The slight dampness will make it easier for your skin to absorb the oil. In addition, you can dilute the oil using a carrier oil like olive oil and use the mixture all over your body. Concentrate on the areas that are the most painful. Massage each area in a circular motion for a few minutes.

Peppermint Oil

Peppermint is another essential oil that is commonly used as a remedy for sicknesses. The herb is also used in its fresh form in order to create herbal teas to treat stress and soreness. Peppermint oil can be massaged into the skin immediately following a shower. However, peppermint oil should be diluted using another oil because it can be too strong on its own. Coconut oil is another oil that works well with peppermint oil and can be readily absorbed by the skin. If you want additional relief, you can add a few drops of peppermint oil to a cup of hot water and dip a clean cloth in the water. Wring the excess water from the cloth and wrap it around the areas of your body that are sore. This will help to quickly alleviate any additional pain.

Physical therapy is a great way to tackle motor issues. However, the process will put your body in a lot of pain. Therefore, use these essential oils to help reduce this pain. Contact a pain clinic, such as the Cypress Cove Care Center, for more information.
